Optimism from narcissism: Angga’s E30 BBS RS

Through this year we have seen loads of builds some favoring form and while others went for function. There are a lot of car enthusiasts across our lovely country-Indonesia that would rather have more in “form format” over the “function format”. Well one of our friend, Angga Raditya, the owner of this struggles-built E30 M40, would have to disagree and show people why they should choose the sleek-but-functional over form for him selves. For fellas as international readers out there, we are really sorry for dished up these article in our native Indonesian language because believe me that this story will be more fun to read in native form. Di tengah-tengah jenuhnya E30 yang modifikasinya kayak template (setidaknya menurut gue pribadi), gue pengen cari yang lain. Enggak M-Tech, enggak Recaro-an, enggak ini, enggak itu. Pengen beda. Lagian sudah banyak banget E30 yang maksimal di Indonesia. Makanya gue browsing internet dan ketemu info kalau E30 itu punya interior merah yang namanya Cardinal Rot. Berhubung gue berteman baik dengan bos Vertue Concept, Edy, gue tantangin buat konversi interior E30 gue, dari abu-abu jadi merah ala Cardinal Rot. Edy pun dengan senang hati meladeni. Walaupun banyak yang bilang sayang banget karena bahan interior gue orisinil. Tapi gue tahu kualitas pengerjaan Vertue Concept pasti bagus, jadi menurut gue bakal worth it. Nappa Edelweiss Stigma warna merah langsung membalut interior, dan gue lebih puas dengan kondisi seperti ini. Cocok sama gue, yang selalu pengen punya ciri khas. Gue narsis, dan gue bangga.

Interior kelar, gue bingung mau ngapain lagi. Gue nongkrong lagi sama teman-teman gue di daerah Bintaro, sambil makan sate. Dari situ gue iseng tanya ke teman gue yang pegang BBS RS 16x(8,5+9,5) inci. Boleh enggak barrel nya gue bayarin? Tanpa diduga, doi mau melepas barrel nya ke gue. Wah ini dia, bakal hits velgnya kalau pakai barrel doi. Karena kesibukan kerjaan gue, baru beberapa bulan barrel ini bisa terpasang. Dan proses pemasangannya enggak gampang, karena 2 set ban 195/50R16 gue bocor samping semua pas ditarik. Alhasil gue beli ban baru dengan ukuran 205/45R16 dari Accelera Alpha. Masalah ban beres, tinggal pasang adaptor, ukuran 25 mm di depan dan 32 mm di belakang.

Spek velg gue setelah ganti barrel, offset¬nya menjadi 16×9 inci offset 35 di depan dan 16×9,5 inci offset 41 di belakang. Sudah pasti mentok dalam, makanya kudu adaptor. Final offset setelah adaptor menjadi offset 10 di depan dan 9 di belakang. Spakbor mesti gue gerinda sedikit biar bebas gesrot. Konstruksi suspensi trailing arm E30 di belakang membantu gue dengan camber otomatis¬nya, membuat lebar 9,5 inci nyemplung aman di dalam spakbor. Yang depan enggak masalah, seimbang sama fitment belakangnya.

Buat ducktail alias heckspoiler, gue pakai Hartge yang sejatinya buat E30 generasi awal, yang masih M10. Ducktail ini dari teman gue, katanya daripada nganggur di rumah mendingan dipakaikan ke mobil gue dulu. Rejeki? Amin. Ducktail Hartge punya juntaian tinggi, sehingga buritan gue juga harus eksotis buat imbangin. Karena itu gue pakai muffler tip dari Sebring yang gue custom lagi. Bentuk knalpot ala DTM cukup mainstream di penggemar E30, makanya gue custom. Gue lagi suka banget sama JSutai, maka knalpotnya gue bikin ala JSutai. Kromnya dimatikan, ampelas, gue siram hitam dan gue tambahin aksen hijau turquoise pakai cutting sticker.

And the result is, I am satisfied with my E30. Dan sejak itu, BMW kesayangan gue ini enggak melulu keluar garasi. Bukan karena ceper, atau ada kerusakan. Tapi karena A/C-nya enggak dingin. Gue malas pakainya. Occasional only. Hahaha… Well, that story of my E30. What I got from my E30 was, narcissism can bring you to optimism, which can lead you to be creative.

A ballad with perfect harmony: Bintang’s Candy Wine Aristo

When it comes to sexy fitment of big sedan, there is no denying that Japan’s car line up dominated it’s style in our life so far. No doubt that the US line up is number one when it comes to any kind of muscle cars, countries in Europe like England and others fight for the prestigious one, and all eyes are on Japan when it comes to all things that called by VIP. One of the cars that does a great job representing a big bodied sedan with great fitment is this particular Toyota Aristo which belongs to our brother Bintang out of Jakarta-Indonesia. Bintang has always had a passion for joyful stance as he still grown up around Indonesian stance scene. A few of the ladies that Bintang owned in his garage consist of an old Jaggy that should be very antique, until the most sexiest lady in my mind, a Nissan 350z. But it  could not resist his passions to modified this stunning Aristo since last year.

The car was slowly turning out just the way he had imagined but he wanted to do something that no body really had done before on Jakarta in matter of a sexy paint job on Aristo. Actually Bintang was very fortunate and got a great deal when purchased this Aristo. This car already had quite a few modifications such as bodykit, suspensions, and several high performance parts on the engine bay. Ultimately the decision to purchase an Aristo was made because he wanted to have something that would memorably by people who saw it, and bring the trend to plays fitment around the big bodied sedan. With the helps from Mr. Vino from Platinum Motorsport, he focused in improved the exterior impressions. None other than a great Red Wine Candy to calcined this big sedan. Platinum Motorsport was very famous on creating some color trends to be applied by us here in Indonesia. Many of friends from Abdee Faisal and his Candy Purple Jazz GD3, until fascinating Kia Sephia with his candy red paint has satisfied with the jobs done by this garage. It’s all about presence, and Bintang’s Aristo certainly makes itself known wherever it goes. The wild but sexy exterior has been customized by the owner himself which when it comes to the levels that in Jakarta-Indonesia perhaps is no easy to be replicated. Custom vents on the hood and fenders and tweaked bumpers are the norm to modified an Aristo. This Aristo finds a nice balance between a youth-type style, and the great stance style. Platinum Garage gave a very balance theme to compensate the aggressiveness of owner’s style, all of exterior kits that installed in this sexy lady including custom trunks, roof spoiler, and almost VIP style look with the rear diffuser and twin exhaust-mounted on rear end.

The Toyota Aristo debuted in Japan in late 1991. Designed by the hand of Giorgetto Giugiaro at the famous Italy Design Studio in Italy its concept was to be the ‘new’ shape of saloons for the 1990’s. It was also Toyota’s first large sized sport saloon. The monocoque body and double wishbone suspension was needed for the Aristo as the engines chosen to power the new car included the 230hp 3.0-litre 2JZ-GE and the even more powerful 280hp 3.0-litre turbo’d 2JZ-GTE Vertex model. In Bintang’s Aristo, this lady hold an engine of 2JZGTE VVTi one. No one could denying that speed’s impressions. But until now, the Toyota Aristo and Lexus GS had been virtually identical cars produced in parallel, destined for either domestic or export markets respectively. Essentially, Toyota Aristo has been designed to deliver a much more engaging and enjoyable driving experience, with sharp, responsive steering, excellent body control, high speed stability and the ride comfort expected of a performance saloon bodied.

To accommodate the speed, some friends suggested him to upgrade the bone stock of his 2JZGTE. Bintang changed the stock air filter with the HKS twin air intake, custom cat back exhaust, HKS ssqv BOV, oil coolers, transmission cooler, until the famous Koyorad radiator to balance the cooling the engine temperature. On this upgrade, all the stuffs is relatively simple to plugged, and it’s achieved approximately 300 horsepower at this condition. Great deal so far.

Fast forward a year and this is where the car sits at the moment. Let’s start with the fitment for example, those 19×9.5″ +20 & 19×10.5″ +16 Work Meister’s sit just right thanks to the custom fender work that Bintang had to do. Sitting behind those beautiful wheels up front and rear is a Brembo GT 4 pot big brake kit and 2 pot brake kit from Mitsubishi Evo 8MR.

For the suspension setup, to achieved this fitment on a fender, Bintang has installed a famous Coilover Tein Street Flex including the EDFC system to control the rebound and damping of this coilovers. In my perseptions, Bintang is clearly care to the stability of this car. He probably still loved some speed when ride this lady, so he decided to installed TRD Stabilizer Bar with great front and rear bushing came from TRD’s too to minimized the body roll effect.

For only having the car for a year, Bintang has accomplished a lot in such a short time, almost like an overnight build in my opinion. The car is a great example of the level that Indonesia is at when it comes to the great stance and fitment scene. There are some truly incredible builds out there. Bintang assures us though that things are far from over with his Aristo. In his opinion, this nowadays setup is still nothing for him and this lady. What are his plans?  Well, he won’t give away too much, but he did say something along the lines of new wheels with more dish and camber, and perhaps going crazy with the body side. Pretty crazy if you ask me, but it seems like Bintang has things covered, and the track-record to prove he can pull it off. With his Toyota Aristo being, “the perfect big bodied sedan for me,” and how it’s turned out in only just a paint works, and there’s no denying that Bintang is part of the big bodied trendsetter in Indonesia to played in great fitment scene.

Story of deserted car: Satrio’s toyota vios

We’ve seen plenty of Toyota Vios in Indonesian stance scene, especially in Jakarta (Indonesia), and sometimes we can only think of those that sits pretty low and some kind of different set of wheels too. We are lucky to have friend like Satrio or some people known him with Jokat that owned this beauty purple lady. After hanging out and working on the car with Alwafi Auzan and Daniel Bramantyo on several week ago, at night Daniel told to us that he wanted to bring Jokat’s car to be featured. I asked him where is the owner though, but the fact is the owner has followed the quarantine step to become a Pilot. So he left this stanced lady in Daniel’s house by the way.

On following day, Me, Alwafi, and Daniel dealed to bring this car to one of private university nearby our location. Nothing special spot actually, but I thought that it’s gonna be suit with the story that Jokat brings to this lady. What story? Yeah..Once after he finished to pimped out his lady off in Platinum garage, he suddenly goes to learn how to drive a plane than making out with this purple candy vios. That’s why we brought this lady in an university area, to let Jokat knows that his lovely car will patiently waiting her man finished his study in a campus parking lot.

Some of the current body mods are in standard oem condition, no flared front and rear fenders, a shaved front bumper with custom lip. Jokat slammed the car using custom static suspension and add some camber to help him clear the wheels and of course hurt some feelings though. Currently his wheels are 17×9 inch all around with 2 inch lips on front, and 2.5 inch lips on rear.

In our opinion, this is probably the one and only toyota vios that sits beautifully on a set of BBS RF wheels. At least Jokat has really good taste on choosing a special wheel for his special car.

Huge shout out to Satrio for sharing his be hoped-for slammed lady with us. A chance to be better: Gustav’s Toyota Mark X

Sometimes it’s ok to parting out of our memory. For example, last weekend I said goodbye to one of my old car. It only took a 30 minute for the sale on one of our biggest e-commerce portal to be settled, and an amazing buyer was quickly booked in for finishing the payment by the end of next week. But after I decided to sell it, I felt that this lady should be replaced with another rare car to exchange his ex-position in my garage. Maybe it’s pretty similar story with Gustav. He already famous as one of the sickest stance Honda Jazz last time in Jakarta-Indonesia. From racing style, to stance-form has been implemented well in his lovely Honda Jazz.

But I don’t know the reason why Gustav replaced it’s position with this brand new Toyota Mark X. Gustav told us that he really loves the big body impressions that shown on every single body line in this Toyota Mark X. The Mark X is the successor to the Mark II which was first introduced in 1968, was known in the North American market as the Corona Mark II starting in 1972 and the Cressida from 1977 to 1992 and was the predecessor to the introduction of Lexus. Unlike any model Toyota produces for the international market, the Mark X is exclusive to the Asian market, including Indonesia.

On Sunday morning few weeks ago, we had promised to featured probably the first stanced Mark X in Indonesia until now. The weather seemed to be really cloudy, and we’ve pretty sure that it will be rain. Shortly after Gustav arrived with his stanced lady, the cloudburst rain came to us. For sure, we will still continue this photosession whatever the condition is. Moreover, it was our pleasure to shoot this big bodied sedan in rain condition.

The very first thing that caught my eye about this car was the stark contrast between the wheels and paint. I just admitted that this whole set up is a turn on. Gustav explained to us when he made wheel selection. In keeping to the point of standing out, he use Kranze Bazreia with polish finished face, and high polished lips. Mind you, probably this is the first Kranze Bazreia choked the fenders of Mark X in the world. Gustav feels that he need to modifying or changing the setup of front wheels. Because either the front offset is too big, or he need wider set on front. But it not decreased even a single little things that makes this car far from the word of “beauty”.

Of course as always, Gustav was a fan of static suspension. Some people think that he rides an air on this lady. But they guessed wrong, Gustav probably stay with this setup until he find the best aftermarket coilover to suit with this Mark X.

This car actually came to Indonesia this year with very expensive price. But in my opinion, this platform is very potential to play with VIP style than it’s successor, Toyota Camry. As you can see from all of the picture in this article, you can see the impressions of this stanced lady if we refer to other brand new big bodied sedan.

Gustav tells us that this car is going to be modified more. Some of my close friends have called me personally as a BMW enthusiast though, but like all car enthusiasts I can appreciate everything about cars. I don’t loved in cars based on what country they’re made in or how many doors or cylinders they have. Enough about me by the way, let’s talk more about this extremely stunning stance lady Mercedes Benz W210 that belongs to my best friend Andy Arifianto. It’s got all the small details going for it as well as the overall look. It’s one of those cars that speaks for itself.

This photoshoot has been taken for three times. Difficult? Yes it is. Personally I always felt dissapointed from what we’ve taken through our camera at the first time. So in the next couple weeks I contacted him again to bring this beautiful lady in front of my lens.

Andy was a big fans of this european lady since he was child. The car started its life when Andy picked this car to his garage. Luckily Andy found this car still in immaculate body and interior condition for starter. But over time, just about all that has changed. He touched the very vital side in a car to be obtrusive. Yes, only a set of perfectly-matched Euroline DZ’s wheels offsets in her fenders.

Even though automotive community has its preferences, we all share same common interest a stanced cars. Even though we can all appreciate the new modern technology offered with modern automobiles, we should never forget the simple pleasures that can only be found with the old one. This Mercedes has been approved, you don’t always need to be wasting your money to take home the “gold” like this lady.
